Project Highlights
- Created data visualizations to help users get meaningful insights with less effort
- Refreshed visual design for the home page
The Problem
Lutron’s top markets (universities and commercial offices) are often multi-building campuses. These customers have a variety of systems from Lutron, each with its end-user software, which makes managing buildings unwieldy and complicated.
The Methods
We conducted contextual inquiry on university campuses to observe facility teams and then conducted deep-dive interviews with users who manage the building’s energy and space usage. We used spreadsheet mapping to synthesize data. Next, we synthesized the top findings via personas. We used the personas to create lo-fi, mid-fi, and hi-fi designs. We created unique data visualizations to bring a better understanding to the users of their buildings. At each stage, we validated the designs using usability testing. After interactions design, I worked closely with the visual director to create the refreshed visual design for the homepage.
The Solution & Results
We launched Enterprise Vue in mid-2018 and it was one of Lutron’s featured products in the nation’s largest annual lighting trade show.
